When it comes to education, what rights do parents have?

Parents have the right to insist that the state provide their child with a free, equal and appropriate educational opportunity. They have specific rights under federal statutes to enforce their child's right to a "free and appropriate public education" ("FAPE"). In addition, parents have the right to access to any and all pupil records related to their children that are maintained by public or private schools. In addition, parents have privacy rights to restrict access to the records pertinent to their children. Without parental consent, a school allow third parties to have access to student records.
